Miss Jamaica World 2011 Media Launch
It’s all about the all new Miss Jamaica World pageant this year and the organizers have raised the bar as far as beauty pageants are concerned. It was revealed at the launch On Wednesday July 20th, held at the Talk of the Town, Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, that a number of new elements will be incorporated in the production this year to enhance the overall look and feel of the pageant. In a launch party that was open only to sponsors and media representatives, pageant director Terri-Karelle Reid outlined all the niceties that are to be expected from this year’s staging.
Some of these new MJW features include a new website design courtesy of Interlinc Communications to enhance the communication between organizers and fans about the happenings of the pageant. The pre-selection process each Saturday in May where each selected hopeful was given free gym membership at the Spartan Health Club as well as grooming speech lessons to better prepare them for eliminations.
The next new element is the Miss Jamaica World YouTube channel where mini-documentaries of the finalists will be posted archiving the journey of the MJW finalists throughout the pageant. New sectional categories will also be implemented this year. According to Reid, “traditionally there is the Most Aware and the most congenial sectional categories but his year we will include three other categories such as Most Photogenic sponsored by Ocean Spray, Best legs sponsored by Venus Embrace and Best Skin Tone sponsored by Neutrogena. Increased involvement in social media is something new to the pageant as this year there will be giveaways through social media entities such as face book and twitter.
One of the most unique and exciting additions to the new elements is the first ever Miss Jamaica world themed photo shoot. Entitled “Elements’“, the shoot embodies the four natural elements: water, air, earth and fire. It was shot at the Boone Hall Oasis earlier this week.
After the revelation of the new elements, the specially invited guests were treated to a performance by female vocalist Aisha Davis who powerfully performed two of her new singles. The well anticipated moment was up next when each of the finalists was presented individually on stage as host for the evening Denise Hunt gave the guests a little background information. The girls will make their first official public appearance this Saturday at noon at the Sovereign Centre where they will be sashed and officially introduced to the rest of Jamaica.
