Miss Jamaica World Western

BRIEF HISTORY & INFORMATION

This competition is an annual event, which had its inception in 1992, and was formerly known as the Miss Jamaica World Middlesex Beauty Pageant. The pageant is dynamic and each year has evolved into a more refined staging, showcasing more than just beauty, capitalizing on our motto, “Beauty with a Purpose.”

With the assimilation of the county pageant for Cornwall in 2003, the pageant was renamed more appropriately as captioned. Miss Jamaica (World) Western Beauty Pageant.

The competition is the largest and the most prestigious in the region, providing wonderful opportunities for the entrants as a precursor to the Ms. Jamaica World Pageant. This year it is our aim to continue to strive for excellence by selecting candidates of the highest caliber, recruiting from across a wider cross section of the island and providing the framework for the development and enrichment as young women. We continue to be involved with children’s homes in the community, for example, have hosted treats for the children, and donated a washing machine to the New Hope Children’s Home among cash other various contributions. Last year we raised funds towards assisting three year old Courtney Brown who has cancer.

The pageant is more than just about beautiful young women competing for the title it assists and promotes the growth and development of the individual’s skills relating to self-esteem, confidence, poise speech and diction also aiding in providing a better sense of worth for the nations young women.

Both pageants being Miss Jamaica Eastern and Western normally result in two very well supported contests to the Miss Jamaica World National Pageant finals and that end result will be wider participation by our most eligible young women.

From the competitors, a queen will be selected to represent the region, at the Miss Jamaica World Eliminations, in Kingston.

The Pageant will be staged for the first time on a Sunday, being July 11, 2010 at the Golf View Hotel, 5 ½ Caledonia Road, Mandeville.
