Beauties to be chosen!

L-R Dahlia Dwyer first runner up MJW Western, Arielle Foote, 2011 MJW Western Winner, Lisa Williams, 2nd runner-up MJW Western

Hot on the heels of the Miss Jamaica World Western competition is the selection of the final line up of the MJW beauties. Come this Sunday July 10 at noon the bevy of contestants will face the judging panel to see who will continue on the path to the Miss Jamaica world 2011 crown. This year, the organizers have implemented a new pre-selection process where ladies were afforded the opportunity to better prepare themselves for the final selection. Selections were held every Saturday in May at the Spartan Health club and the best ladies who were chosen were given free gym membership as well as grooming and speech lessons. “Preparation is key,” said Pageant Director Terri-Karelle Reid, “and we here at Spartan recognize that and so we implemented the pre-selection process so that that the ladies would be able to showcase their true potential when the final selections come around.” Facial beauty, beauty of figure, personality and presence are just some of the key elements that will be expected of the ladies come midday Sunday.
The pre-selection process brought out a total of 60-70 girls who were interested in the Miss Jamaica World crown. “Based on the caliber of girls that turned out at the pre-selection we might have a top 20 instead of the traditional top 16 this year,” Reid explained.

This year like all other years since its 1992 staging, the Miss Jamaica World Western queen will be automatically fast tracked into the top 16 or top 20 (depending on the final decision) of the Miss Jamaica World finals. On Saturday last, Arielle Foote, Miss Dryclean USA was crowned as the new Miss Jamaica Western Queen. Dahlia Dwyer, Miss Superior Autoparts was 1st runner up and Lisa Williams, Miss May Pen Ice was the second runner up.
In a very highly competitive display of talent, beauty, poise and grace, Foote beat out a total of 12 ladies winning for herself $60,000 cash, a jewelery set courtesy of Sterling collection and the chance to represent the west in the Miss Jamaica World Finals on August 27, among other prizes.
Applications are still being accepted for persons who still wish to enter and can be obtained at the Miss Jamaica world website at www.missjamaicaworld.com. The deadline for applications is midnight on July 10th, 2011. Forms can also be picked up at the Spartan Health club headquarters on Lady Musgrave Road.
