Miss Jamaica World Crowns County Queens

The crowning of Miss Jamaica World 2012, which takes place at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, will climax on June 23, 2012. However, preliminary competitions to select Miss Jamaica World Cornwall and Miss Jamaica World Middlesex have already taken place in the respective counties.

Miss Jamaica World Middlesex, held at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville on Saturday, April 28, and Miss Jamaica World Cornwall, staged at the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego bay on  May 6, both saw the crowning of two lucky ladies who will be fast tracked into the Top 20 of the Miss Jamaica World Pageant.

Sheena Drummond, Miss Pryce Construction, was crowned Miss Jamaica World Middlesex, walking away with the first prize of $60,000 and the coveted crown. The 19 year old also took home three sectional prizes – Most Talented, Best Skin Tone and Best Smile, which awarded her an additional $10,000 each. First Runner up was 17 year old Wendy Gardner voted as Most Aware and second runner up went to Antoinette James  walking away with a cash prize of $15,000 and the most punctual sectional prize.

Miss Jamaica World Middlesex

All 13 contestants treated the audience to a good show and dazzled in their casual wear courtesy of Maxie Department Store, evening gowns from Kymani’s Bride and Fashion and swim wear courtesy of The Mushroom. Patrons were also treated to a riveting performance from songstress Tami Chynn among other acts.

The week following of the crowning of the MJW queen in Middlesex, Cornwall county came alive as the title Miss Jamaica World Cornwall went to Ava-Maria Campbell, Miss R&R Distributors. The contestant was awarded $50,000 along with other prizes, and also walked away with prizes for Most Aware and Best Figure. First and Second runners up were Candice Mcleod and Leonie Daley respectively. Mcleod walked away with a cash prize of $25,000 and was also won the sectional prize for Best Smile, while Daley received a cash prize of $15,000 and the prize for Best Skin Tone.

Miss Jamaica World Cornwall

Miss Jamaica World Cornwall 2012 is the first in a number of years and was well received by locals and tourists alike. Barry G was emcee for the night and entertainment came in the form of a dance routine by the lovely contestants which the audience really enjoyed. The 8 hopeful contestants paraded in swimwear, courtesy of Koko Beenz, and formal wear by Ann-Marie Robinson Chin.

The winners from both competitions will be fast tracked into the Top 20 on May 23 in preparation for the Miss Jamaica World pageant on June 23, 2012. The ladies will be treated to a whirlwind of fast track competitions and events culminating with the MJW Jamaica 50 at the Pegasus Hotel.
