MJW Princess Diaries: Vol. 1

The grand coronation of Miss Jamaica World 2015, takes place at the Montego Bay Convention Centre and for the next month, Flair Magazine is your go-to publication for scoop on the beauty competition. Today, we begin with a recap of their busy schedule which we will chronicle each week in our Princess Diaries.

Giving Blood Saves A Life

The 2015 Miss Jamaica World finalists were chief participants in the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association’s (JGRA) first western blood drive on Saturday, July 4.

The blood drive took place at Dunbar’s River, Savanna-la-Mar, where the contestants were blood donation ‘recruiting officers’ for the day – encouraging citizens to give blood for a worthy cause.

Chair of the Western Chapter for the JGRA, Sandra Molyneaux, noted that she was very pleased with the blood drive, as it was the first of its kind in western Jamaica for the JGRA. She explains that the initiative came about after a dealer of the company was shot and needed blood. “We at the JGRA decided to put on an annual blood drive, because we have experienced its need first-hand with what happened to one of our dealers.”

MJW Mantra

The Miss Jamaica World’s mantra, ‘Beauty With a Purpose’ promotes the importance of service to country. Some of the contestants also donated blood, giving of themselves to assist in saving three lives by donating one unit of blood.

Charity plays a major role in the pageant, and the 2015 contestants will continue to support various causes across the island, as well as build on their own, as the Beauty With a Purpose sectional prize winner will get an automatic placement in the top 15.

The Miss Jamaica World 2015 Finals will be held on August 15, 2015 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, where they will host the reigning Miss World 2015, Rolene Strauss, and Miss World CEO, Julia Morley.
