Maya Wilkinson is SoftSheen Carson MJW Model winner- First finalist to fast track to Top 10

In a highly competitive showcase of beauty, body and personality among 20 hopefuls vying for the title of Miss Jamaica World 2011,Miss Maybelline, Maya Wilkinson ripped the runway and walked away with the title of Softsheen Carson MJW Model, cementing her place in the top 10 for the September 10 staging.  Coming in as second runner up was Miss Bucmars Inc Ltd Dahlia Dwyer and Miss Appleton Jamaica Rum as the first runner up. Wilkinson stood out as the favourite for the panel of judges that included Sophia Maxbrown, Tommy James, Roxene Nickel-Alveranga, Deiwght Peters, Joan McDonald and Keneea Linton-George. Runway body, runway personality and use of garment were the criteria for that the judges used to select their winner. The SoftSheen Carson MJW Model (fast track) competition is all about the “Naomi Campbells” of the world-the  catwalkers and major strutters.

 The all-white Club Privilege in New Kingston was the host of the event on Tuesday night and the venue was almost full to capacity. Scores of family members, fans, pageant lovers/ supporters crammed inside the venue to show support and love for their favourite contestant.  A slight late start to the event’s proceedings but not too late to annoy the patrons as the DJ as well as MC’s for the evening Denise Hunt and Regina Beavers did a stellar job at keeping the vibe alive. The show consisted of 2 segments the first of which was the swimsuit parade courtesy of The Mushroom. The second was a fashion showcase by Uzuri International where each finalist model dazzling, eye-popping designs that were sure to excite. The patrons were eating it all up as they cheered non-stop for their favourite girl.

Immediately following the fashion showcase was the time for the judges to deliberate and choose the girl that was well-suited to walk away with the title. The atmosphere was intense but the patrons were still upbeat. After several minutes the verdict was in and Miss Maybelline, Maya Wilkinson was the victor. Chavoy Gordon and Dahlia Dwyer were the runners-up in the respective order. The next fast track competition is the Venus Embrace MJW Beach Beauty this Saturday August 13, 2011 at the Grand Palladium Resort and  Spa in Hanover.
